Q&A – Growing Rhodos from Seed

Q: How to grow rhodos from seed, and will they come true?

If you’re hoping to grow a plant that looks exactly like the parent, growing from seed is not the best way to reproduce rhododendrons.  If you want an exact clone of the parent, reproduction via cuttings is a better solution.  (You can find an overview of propagation via cuttings at https://marsrhodos.ca/propagation-group/#propagation-process.)

But if you’re interested in creating interesting new rhododendron hybrids, growing from seed is exactly what you want!
